Parabolic Problems

Parabolic Problems - the book

Since 1964, Parabola has offered excellent new and challenging mathematical problems in every issue, all of which you can access and enjoy via this website.

To celebrate Parabola's 60th anniversary in 2024, Problem Editor David Angell and Chief Editor Thomas Britz selected the very best of the 1700+ Parabola problems from those 60 years. They re-mastered these problems and their solutions, drew 240+ colour diagrams and added a supplementary chapter on problem-solving techniques. With a foreword by the eminent Ian Stewart, the result of this work is the book Parabolic Problems: 60 Years of Mathematical Puzzles in Parabola, published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis/CRC Press.

Reviews

Happy 60th birthday Parabola! If you are in maths education, you will find it a unique and remarkable magazine, a treasure trove of interesting material and brilliant problems, more than 300 of which are in Parabolic Problems.
-Alex Bellos, The Guardian

This is a stunningly good book! [...] [W]ith an appropriate class, these would add a good degree of challenge and encourage students to think a little more widely about applying their mathematical knowledge to unfamiliar areas.
-Peter Hall, The Mathematical Gazette
